First we eat, then we do EVERYTHING else.

Hi there! I’m Nikki!
A Florida girl thru and thru, there’s a good chance I’m padding around my house barefoot cooking up inspiration for a new meal to try out, a viral habit or mindset hack that just might curb my ADHD, a new outfit to add to the rotation (budget friendly of course!) or a crazy DIY that is a must have for our new house. Yes – I’m a whirlwind of creativity and my brain works best when there are LOTS of tabs open (although navigating the hormone changes that come with perimenopause is certainly slowing down my processing speeds lol!)
So what exactly can you expect to find here at NikkiBauer.com? The daily forage of a woman trying to navigate it ALL without losing herself or her mind! All of my favorite recipes and meal prepping of course with a good mix of health, wellness, + nutrition, daily habits & rhythms AND a pinch of fashion, home decor + design, motherhood, and travel just to keep it interesting!
Thanks for stopping by and catching a glimpse of the real behind the reel!
a little bit of history
Food has quite possibly always been a love language to me. From my grandma Ruth who taught me how to bake bread and my grandma Dottie who actually taste tested baby food before feeding it to me and my mom who plopped me and my sister on the tall barstools in our kitchen and baked almost ever single birthday cake from scratch (a tradition I have continued with my own kids!) So yes, food has always equalled love and comfort but as I’ve gotten older even more meaning and importance has been layered on. Right after I had my daughter in 2012, I started noticing that the food
I was consuming was affecting every single thing that she did – her sleep, her tummy, her overall demeanor, and even her nasal congestion. My sister suggested an elimination diet and my mind was blown. In less than a month, not only did my daughter’s symptoms drastically improve – so did mine! My inflammation was gone. No more IBS or migraines. I felt better than I had in years thanks to saying goodbye to gluten, dairy, and processed sugar. And since then, I’ve made it my personal mission to do right by my body thru consuming nourishing AND delicious food that I love!
