Sometimes it’s almost comical to me the winding path that life leads us on. As we’re navigating it, it’s nearly impossible to see what the journey ahead has in store and sometimes it’s downright painful. But that 20/20 view of it certainly makes it easier to see the why’s and how’s and God winks along the way.

Not long ago I was chatting with my husband about this sourdough stage of life I had landed in. I was giggling that my younger self surely never saw that one coming and before the words came out of my mouth, I had a thought. Finding myself in the kitchen making bread might have been the MOST expected thing to see if you took a look at younger Nikki. Some of my earliest memories are kneading dough with my grandmother, baking with my mom, and sharing meals with family. And if I needed more proof, my corporate career landed me working in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry. Yep – the industry that markets and gets food onto grocery store shelves. Funny sidenote – my grandfather actually owned a grocery store when my mom was growing up… So yes – food IS certainly in my DNA!
